Located directly south of Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach stretches south to the entry of Murrells Inlet and straddles the county line between Horry and Georgetown counties. Year after year, the same families return to this small beach community for their relaxing beach vacation and the majority enjoy their stay in one of the many ideal beach houses or condos.
The inlet meets the ocean here in Garden City Beach, and with access to both ocean and inlet, the area is a hot spot for fishing, crabbing, and other watersports. Garden City Beach has a 668-foot long fishing pier that serves as the heart of the community. It's an angler's paradise during the day and offers live music during the summer evenings, along with a marina, amusements, restaurants and other businesses.
Along the marsh side visitors find spectacular sunsets and restaurants serving fresh seafood. A stroll along the creek walk is a relaxing way to end the day while on the southern end of Garden City Beach. A marina offers boaters safe harbor and an interesting place for visitors to have dinner while enjoying the peace found where water meets land.
Everything comes back to family in Garden City Beach. Popular arcades filled with the whirls and jingles of games, combined with players' laughter, are a favorite stop for those ready to have fun after a day of play in the sun, and lighthearted, family-friendly celebrations are held throughout the year. One of the most popular is the 4th of July golf cart parade, a nearly 30-year long tradition featuring patriotically-decorated golf carts.
