The Best Beer on the Beach

Monday, December 22, 2014 4:29 PM by VisitMyrtleBeach SC

We love the taste of a great craft beer. In the summer months, nothing complements a day out in the sun better. Here in the Myrtle Beach area , we're fortunate to have a local brewery that is producing quality brews 365 days of year. New South Brewery is definitely one of the Grand Strand's hidden gems. Nestled between manufacturing businesses, this small operation has a four-person staff that is responsible for getting its delicious white ale, nut brown ale and other specialty beers into stores. And if you want to see the magic behind the curtain,…

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming

Here's an interesting piece of information about Ripley's Aquarium - it filters more water in one day than the city of Myrtle Beach does during the entire summer season. We learned that on a behind-the-scenes tour that taught us a great deal about just what makes the aquarium tick. Seeing the backstage area of Ripley's gives a person an even greater appreciation for the wonderment the general public can experience on a regular basis when they visit one of the Myrtle Beach area's most popular attractions. Make a point to check out the Swarm!…

Take a drive around the Myrtle Beach area , and you'll see homes and businesses already adorned with their seasonal baubles, trinkets and lights. The Carolina Opry is also into the spirit of the season already, in the form of their amazing Christmas show. It's a wonderful marriage of song, dance, comedy and plenty of holiday cheer. And hey, the little ones in your household will be happy to know the performers even…

A Gothic Love Story

Wednesday, October 29, 2014 9:54 AM by VisitMyrtleBeach SC

We are just two days away from Halloween, so now is the time to get all those last-minute costume accessories together. Oh, and don't forget to be stocked up on candy before all those trick-or-treaters take to the neighborhoods of the Myrtle Beach area . Speaking of treats, we've got one for you in the form of a local ghost story. Because, let's be honest, who doesn't love a good supernatural yarn this time of year? The setting for this gothic tale is Murrells Inlet. In the mid-1800s, a young woman named Alice Flagg met a lumberman. Over the next…

It’s About To Get Spooky

Thursday, October 23, 2014 4:11 PM by VisitMyrtleBeach SC

Who doesn't love a good story? From childhood on through adulthood, we've always taken the time to hear others spin a good yarn, or picked up a book and discovered new characters and settings for ourselves. And now that the Halloween season is fully upon us, our favorite types of stories are of the spooky variety. That is why we are so excited for the Conway Ghost Walk: Spirits of the Lowcountry , which runs this weekend, Oct. 23 through Oct. 25, 2014. Our seven storytellers will regale the audience with spooky and even humorous tales about the…
