Have you ever wondered what life was like on a living farm in the early to mid-1900s? Take a step back in time and discover the history and culture of the Horry County farm family during the 1900-1955 period. Larry Paul, a local businessman with a rich farming heritage in Horry County, offered to fund the construction of a family farm to help educate future generations by allowing guests and visitors to observe and participate in activities that would have been commonplace on traditional family farms.
Events and live demonstrations change seasonally to reflect what actually takes place on the farm during a specific time of year, so there is always something new to see! Some examples include:
- Plowing with Mules
- Making Lye Soap
- Curing Meat
- Milking Cows
- Learn How Farm Families Obtained a Water Supply
- How were Clothes and Linens Washed?
- Blacksmithing Techniques
The L. W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 am - 4 pm. The farm is free and open to the public and is located at the corner of Hwy 701 North and Harris Short Cut Road in Conway, SC. For more information, call the L. W. Paul Living History Farm at 843-365-3596.
