Guide for Visitors at the Myrtle Beach Classic
Marking its debut from May 9-12, The Myrtle Beach Classic is the Grand Strand’s newest PGA Tour event. Sponsored by Visit Myrtle Beach, this is the first time a major professional golf tournament has been in the area in the past 24 years. Myrtle Beach, which has been known as the ‘Golf Capital of the World’ is further backing that claim with this new tournament.
The Classic will be held at the infamous Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Lining the Atlantic Ocean, this course is known for its beautiful views. Many golf events have been previously held at this course including PGA TOUR Champions, USGA, Collegiate, and men’s and women’s State amateur competitions. Proceeds from the event will be allocated to nonprofit organizations in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and math), diversity and inclusion, reskilling programs, and local nonprofits in the Greater Myrtle Beach area. Tickets can be found on the event's website and vary in price depending on the days attended.
If you will be coming to The Beach for a few days to watch the professionals, we have collected some of the best hotels, restaurants, and nearby attractions to keep you and your family busy during your trip.

Restaurants
Celebrating 60 years of oceanfront dining, this restaurant first started as a cottage during the 1930s. Over the years it was converted into what we all know it as now, one of the best seafood spots in Myrtle Beach. Offering classics like she-crab soup and jambalaya, the Sea Captain House also does a special spin on marinated chicken served with grilled peach salsa and bacon-wrapped scallops that you don’t want to miss out on.
If The Classic has you worn out and you just want to sit back with a drink and some live music, Crooked Hammock is ready for you! At Barefoot Landing, this spot has a specially curated list of craft beers to choose from like the Banana Hammock (15% ABV), Acai Bowl (5.5% ABV), or the Coconut Golden Ale (4.9% ABV). Pair these with your favorite handhelds and you’ll be set for the whole evening. Crooked Hammock is open from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and until 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Be prepared to eat seafood like never before. With over 120 different items to choose from, you better come hungry. From crab legs, raw oysters, prime beef cuts, and loads of flavorful sides, you’re sure to overeat. All the seafood is fresh and locally sourced, and cooked in all your favorite ways: grilled, broiled, and fried. Call ahead of time to reserve a spot, so you can skip the line and dive right in.
Loved by locals and encouraged by tourists, Carolina Seafood has some of the best land and seafood combos around. Offering fresh fish and certified Angus beef, the restaurant is also known for its flatbreads and pizzas cooked in its brick oven and class pasta dishes. Also, if you’re searching for a good happy hour, from 4-7, Carolina serves various dishes like pork belly, fried oysters, and Lowcountry green tomatoes in addition to drinks like wine, draft beers, and signature cocktails at a low rate.
At Kingston Resort, Black Drum Brewing is the newest craze. With 40 beers on tap from North and South Carolina, everything is locally brewed. The spot has a ‘Southern flair with salt air,’ serving all your favorite beer foods and a range of seafood and smoked meats. Nothing is better than the BBQ sampler board and a cold drink.
Attractions
Operating since 1993, Alabama has a constant rotation of shows to entertain guests. It used to host the famous ONE The Show, but now there is a new show, ICONIC! that will have choreographed dances, an updated song selection, comedy, thrills, and entertainment. Located at Barefoot Landing, the tickets for showtimes can be bought through the theater’s website.
Nothing beats dinner and a show. Be prepared for pirates, mermaids, tropical birds, and more with this show. Enjoy the wonderful views of a pirate ship that’s sailing to an indoor blue lagoon. Each show is accompanied by a four-course meal and drinks to indulge in (vegetarian and vegan meals are also available). If you arrive before the show, you can participate in the pirate sing-along in the Pirates Village.
Offering three shows, The Carolina Opry, Time Wrap hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and the Performing Arts Series, you will be captivated by them all. The Carolina Opry was the first theater to open at the beach under Calvin Gilmore and has had more than 10,000 performances over the years. It’s been voted ‘Top Myrtle Beach Attraction’ by CNBC several times, so if you have an evening to spare, why not watch a show?
Located at Barefoot Landing, Duplin is the best place in the area for wine tastings. Stop by in the evening for live music and spend $20 to try a wine flight with four different Duplin wines of your choice. If you want to pair it with a snack, try the winery's gourmet crackers, dip, and fudge to clear your pallet. Afterward, you can browse the establishment’s shop for all your favorite wine necessities or for a souvenir to take home.
