Dynamic Duo: Top Activities for Besties in Myrtle Beach

Celebrate National Best Friend Day with fun activities for two!
In honor of National Best Friend Day on June 8th, we want to share the top activities and spots to hit with your best friend in Myrtle Beach. There are so many things to do around the city as a pair! From attractions to restaurants to little moments that will create memories forever. We thought outside the box, curating an agenda of popular experiences in the area, that are loved by locals and tourists alike. Whether you will be in the city on National Best Friend Day or coming with your favorite person any other time of year, here’s what you can do, together.

That’s right. If this game brings back memories for you, you’ll love Grand Strand Brewery's version. Bring your friend and set up your ‘cups’ made of trash bins, to see who can eliminate all their bins the fastest with the ball (in this case, a basketball). This brewery has many life-size activities to enjoy including Connect Four, so that while you’re sipping on some local, craft beers, you also have a little fun to indulge in. This is one of the many stops on the Beer Trail in the city, other local favorites include Tidal Creek Brewery, Crooked Hammock, and New South Brewing, each serving a unique atmosphere and signature brew.

Happening once a year in June, you and your friend must visit Myrtle Beach during its Carolina Country Music Festival. What’s now the biggest country festival on the East Coast, is right near the beach, making it a prime location for everything in the city. This year, it takes place on June 6-9 and contains entertainment, laughter, and leisure. You and your friend will never forget this experience, creating irreplaceable moments. However, if you can’t swing it to the festival, don’t worry. Many music joints and restaurants around the city have live music on the weekends, the most known being The Boathouse, The Bowery, and The House of Blues. All these spots make for a lively and gratifying experience.

The beach means more than just sitting on the sand or wading in the water; everything is better done in pairs. Plan a day at the beach, starting with light sports such as badminton, volleyball, or throwing around a football. The equipment can easily be found at affordable prices in local beach stores. Once you have what you need, you can play away the afternoon and cool off in the salty water. Afterward, once the evening rolls around, you can plan a picnic to enjoy the sunset with some good food and even better company. To seal the end to a perfect day, you two can search for seashells or shark teeth in the sand. You’ll be surprised at the things you can find at the beach!

Experience the thrill of the ocean, waterway, or inlet with your best friend by renting jet skis in Myrtle Beach. Jet skiing offers the perfect blend of excitement and adventure, allowing you to explore the beautiful coastline and feel the rush of the wind and waves. Whether you're racing each other or cruising side by side, jet skiing is an unforgettable experience. With Express Watersports on the inlet, Shoreline Watersports on the ocean in Surfside, and New Wave Watersports in North Myrlte Beach, you can easily find a spot that suits your schedule and location! Grab your BFF, hop on a jet ski, and make the most of National Best Friend Day with a splash!

You can barhop, sure, but restaurant-hopping during happy hour is another level. Most restaurants in the city, on weekdays between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. (sometimes 7 p.m.) have discounts on certain foods and drinks. Head over to RipTydz to sip on a drink while overlooking the ocean, Fiesta Mexicana to enjoy a $6 jumbo margarita, or to Tin Roof to witness live bands and DJs while taking advantage of the discounted drinks and appetizers. The best part is, that so many restaurants in the downtown area are within walking distance of each other, so you have many options when choosing where to dine. Make sure to document your experience along the way by taking photos of all the new food and drinks you and your friend will try!

Something fun, that’s growing in popularity, and is always better as a duo, is axe-throwing. Whether you and your friend have never tried it before, or if you want to try it again, it’s always a fun pastime, and nice to try at different locations. With two spots, Jack Axe Throwing offers targets such as balloons, dart boards, or a moving bull's eye depending on the wanted difficulty level. Stars and Strikes is another location with axe throwing, and if you want to opt for another activity after your arms are worn out, you can hang out in their arcade room, sign up for a game of laser tag, or try your hand at an escape room. This is the perfect opportunity to let out your inner child.

Operating since 2017, Black Ops Paintball and Airsoft in Socastee has everything you can dream of just a few miles away from the beach, with large acre fields, trenches, and immersive experiences, it’s the perfect game to play for action and thrill. Split up, you on one team, your friend on another, and let your competitive nature take over! If you prefer something with a little less movement, the two of you can head over to one of Myrtle’s many indoor shooting ranges such as Palmetto State Armory or 707 Indoor Shooting Range, to determine once and for all who has the better shot.

This is for anyone looking for a way to spend a nice evening (or day - your choice!) together. Paint and sips are classes, ranging in duration, that allow you to create a masterpiece while indulging in a little wine. The classes are usually themed and can be booked in advance, depending on what kind of design you want to create. Popular spots include Wine & Design in Market Commons, just a few blocks from the beach, and Paint & Unwind in Murrells Inlet.

Don’t want to get a real tattoo but like the idea of them? Why not get henna tattoos together on the boulevard? It’s a fun way to spend time as a duo by picking out designs and colors for each other and serves as a good souvenir, at least for a short duration. Also, while in downtown Myrtle Beach, you can browse the local stores such as the Gay Dolphin, try various street foods and coffee shops, and end the trip with a ride on the SkyWheel. There are loads of things to do within a one-mile radius, to fill your whole evening with thrills, new eateries, and amazing views.
