10 Hidden Gems That Make Loris, S.C., Worth the Trip
The cutest little town you’re not visiting yet ... but should be.
Just 35 minutes inland from Myrtle Beach, Loris is the kind of small town that sneaks up on you.
It’s all pine trees, farm fields, and a cute walkable downtown, complete with a giant “Loris, S.C.” mural that was basically made for your camera roll. And right now, Loris is having a real moment.
A whole wave of new shops, cafes, restaurants and things to do has opened up over the past few years, and downtown keeps getting cuter by the season. These are the surprisingly cute hidden gems worth making the drive to the home of Chicken Bog and Bog-Offs.

Picture a glass of wine made right on site, 75 acres of rolling farmland, live music drifting across the field, and zero reasons to check your phone. Barn View Winery opened in 2024 just outside town and quickly became the move for a slow, golden hour kind of afternoon. There’s a renovated barn with a bar, big grassy lawns, cornhole, even a driving range. Bring your person, bring your group, bring a cute outfit.

A funky little local cafe and coffee shop with a motto it actually lives up to: local, fresh, homemade goodness. The Grind is the kind of place where the lattes are handcrafted, the muffins and sandwiches are made from scratch, and the whole vibe is pure small-town cool. Pop in for your morning coffee or a laid-back lunch and stay for the personality.

For your main character morning walk. Loris Nature Park has a sweet one mile trail to explore, a playground for the little ones, and fun disc golf course. It’s peaceful, it’s pretty, and it’s the perfect way to earn that second coffee. Bring the dog, bring the kids, bring a good playlist.

They call it “your living room on Main Street,” and yeah, that's accurate. Mattie Jane’s is family owned, named after a grandmother, and it was the first coffee and boba spot Loris had in about forty years. The walls are covered in funky “Golden Girls” themed artwork, which gives the whole place so much personality, and the counter is turning out tasty lattes and iced coffee drinks, plus boba, dirty sodas, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, and a full food menu that actually delivers. It got named the Loris Chamber’s 2025 Business of the Year, so it must be doing something right.

This is a designated “I’m just gonna pop in real quick” trap. Moon Vine is the cutest little downtown shop, full of stylish, trendy, actually affordable pieces for women. Here’s the part that sold me: it’s connected to the Loris Drug Store, so under one roof you get loads of local apparel and custom embroidery, a working drug store, and an old-school soda fountain serving ice cream. Refresh an outfit, get something monogrammed, then grab a scoop. You will leave with something.
Various Horry County Farms
This is the agritourism era and Loris is delivering. In summer, Bonnie Bay Blueberry Farm lets you pick your own blueberries, which is about the most wholesome thing you can do on a Saturday. Come fall, Holmes Farms is all pumpkins, produce, and seasonal everything. And if you’re a little obsessed with baby animals, Star Farmlets you hang out with goats, pigs, and ponies. Consider it content.

Two of our favorite things, shopping and dessert, under one roof. Poppie’s is a downtown boutique stocked by a dozen-plus local vendors, so the racks are full of cute finds you won’t see everywhere else. Then there’s the sweet bar, where ice cream, milkshakes, and specialty drinks are waiting to make your downtown stroll a whole lot sweeter. Shop a little, treat yourself, repeat.

Part general store, part down home kitchen, fully charming. Ritchie’s is where you go for a plate of real Southern cooking, including Loris’ famous chicken bog (that cozy mix of rice, chicken, sausage, and spices the town is basically famous for). Tea + Pottery is a cozy creative studio where you can throw on the pottery wheel, join a paint and sip night, or settle in for a proper tea party with organic blends brewing in the front tea house. It was created in memory of the owner’s grandmother, and you can feel that warmth the second you walk in. Book a class, bring a friend, make something cute.

Nobody else is doing what Tippitiwichit is doing. Fun fact: the name is local slang for a Venus flytrap. It’s part bookstore, part gift shop, part art gallery, and it also happens to have a whole lineup of beer, wine, seltzers, and N.A. options you can sip there or grab to go. Once the evening rolls in it turns into a cozy little lounge. Book clubs, live music, and meet and greets are already in the works.
