Top Places to Explore Wildlife in Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area is noted for amazing wildlife and for those who love to explore, we came up with a Top 10 list of our favorites places to enjoy!

1. Alligator Adventure

Kids who love animals will love to explore Alligator Adventure located at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach. Experience family fun as you see tons of gators, gray wolves, rare snakes, kangaroos, and crocodiles too!

2. Ripley's Aquarium

Ripley's Aquarium, located at Broadway at the Beach, is filled with spectacular wildlife! Ride a 330-foot conveyor walkway through a windowed acrylic tunnel filled with a reef filled with thousands of different types of incredible ocean life - giant sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and moray eels so close you can touch them! There is a Penguin exhibit with special encounters for you to interact with the cutest penguins around and a new sloth exhibit with two of the cutest two-toed sloths around.

3. Myrtle Beach State Park

Did you know that the Myrtle Beach State Park was the first State Park established in South Carolina? Located in downtown Myrtle Beach, this State Park is home to hundreds of species that are protected by the park. Kids can sign up for camps and explore the park all year long!

4. Brookgreen Gardens Zoo

Take a day trip to Brookgreen Gardens Lowcountry Zoo in Murrells Inlet to see alligators, eagles, deer, and horses. You will also enjoy internationally-acclaimed sculptures amid local flora and 300 species of South Carolina water birds. While you are there, stroll around the sculpture gardens to take in the natural beauty of southern oak trees drapped in moss and gorgeous flowers.

The Center for Birds of Prey is an avian conservation center located just south of Georgetown that offers educational classes for kids of all ages as well as a rehabilitation center and clinic for injured birds. This center supports research for various bird species all across the country.
