Things to Do on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
The oceanfront Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, which runs a little over a mile long from the 14th Avenue Pier to Second Avenue Pier, has brightened our beachfront since 2011, making it an even more popular place to be.
Here’s where we think you should stop along your stroll on the boardwalk for fun, games, food, music, and more!

You can’t miss the SkyWheel towering sky-high above the Myrtle Beach skyline at nearly 200 feet tall. Located on the boardwalk just off 10th Ave. North, this landmark attraction offers breathtaking views of the ocean, the coastline, and beyond. As one of the tallest observation wheels on the East Coast, the SkyWheel’s ride experience is an elevated, relaxing one for all ages with enclosed gondolas that are air-conditioned. Step inside and make memories!
It’s all fun and games at any of these arcades that line the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Boardwalk Arcade, located on the boards at 912 South Ocean Blvd, features a mix of classic and modern arcade games, with a ticket booth to redeem for all sorts of prizes. The Fun Plaza Arcade at 902 North Ocean Blvd. offers a row of Skee-ball games, hot hoops, air hockey, claw-drop machines, vintage penny baseball games, and a prize booth. And Ripley’s Super Fun Zone Arcade.
This historic gift shop, located at 916 North Ocean Blvd., dates back to the 1940s and today stands several stories high, stocked with souvenirs, ornaments, jewelry, shark’s teeth, shells, apparel, home décor, and more. Also within this maze of amazing inventory, you will discover seven photo opportunities that range from a life-size Yeti and Elvis to Egyptian guardians and pirates, which makes the Gay Dolphin a truly unforgettable shopping experience.
This lovely green space anchored on the boardwalk at 1100 North Ocean Boulevard hums with activity year-round, from free live music concerts on the stage during the summer to family-friendly festivals and events over the other seasons. The centerpiece of Plyler Park is the 12-foot-tall, beautiful bronze sculpture, Goddess of the Sea, depicting a mermaid frolicking with two dolphins in the ocean created by internationally known artist, Kristen Visbal.
When it’s time to refuel after a day of walking, playing, and shopping, there are plenty of bar and restaurant options on the boardwalk. A few we suggest are RipTydz Oceanfront Grille and Rooftop Bar, Mad Myrtle’s Ice Creamery, and 8th Avenue Tiki Bar & Grill.
