Things To Do in August in Myrtle Beach
Summer is already winding down! It seems like yesterday we were preparing for events and activities in June, so before it’s too late and school picks back up, plan that last-minute trip to The Beach! Even though it’s nearing the end of the season, the sun is still high and there are numerous activities full of summertime fun to participate in.
And don’t worry, when the end of August rolls around, new and exciting things will be in preparation for September!
Exhibits and Events
Craftsmen’s Summer Classic:
Right at the beginning of the month, on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, join the state's best arts & crafts festival. Held yearly, everything can be found here from pottery, home décor, clothing, jewelry, woodwork, glass, photography, and much more! Browse aisles of handiwork of different budgets at the convention center while nibbling on tasty treats. Tickets are $10 for adults and $1 for kids 6-12 when you pay at the door. Or, purchase tickets online for a discounted price. The event will run each day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday until 4 p.m.
The Ultimate Reptile Show:
Returning to Myrtle Beach on August 16th and 17th is a large reptilian extravaganza. Featuring creatures such as geckos, frogs, tarantulas, chameleons, bearded dragons, iguanas, and more, you must visit if you’re an enthusiast, collector, or just curious about these species. The show will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 16th and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 17th. Secure your tickets online and get ready to be surrounded by all your favorite reptiles!
Summer Light Exhibition at Brookgreen Gardens:
Wrapping up this month, this is your last chance to see the summer light installation at Brookgreen Gardens until next summer! Running August 2nd, 6th, 9th, 13th, 16th, 20th, 23rd, 27th, and 30th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., you can explore the gardens during the day and be captivated by beautiful, uniquely designed lights in the evening. There is a discounted price if you want to enter the gardens in addition to the installation, which can be purchased online. You can also come hungry to snag dinner at Austin’s Harvest Restaurant right on the property, or grab a bite from a food truck and listen to the live performer playing that day.
Grand Strand Farmer’s Markets
One of my favorite things to do when visiting towns, whether I’ve been there one hundred times or am a newcomer, is to go to a farmers’ market. The Grand Strand has several, so you can choose which location and day best suits your schedule to look at artisan crafts and local products to take home.
Surfside Beach Farmer’s Market: Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Surfside Drive and Willow Drive North.
North Myrtle Beach Farmer’s Market: Every Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Valor Park Farmer’s Market on Deville Street: Every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Downtown Conway Farmers Market: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

You can anticipate a lot of dancing and singing, so be prepared to take part!
Boathouse Summer Concert Series:
Continuing its iconic summer series, head to the Boathouse every Sunday night for a free concert at 5 p.m. The stage is right next to the Intracoastal Waterway, making it one of the most beautiful spots to watch live music in Myrtle Beach, especially when the sun starts to set! Don’t miss a performance at this venue and try to show up as early as possible to secure a spot on the grass, because it sure does fill up fast!
The Alabama Theatre:
Serving up a handful of tribute bands and independent performers this month, visit the Alabama Theatre to catch a more jazzed-up production during your stay at The Beach. This is a great chance for the family or friends to dress up and spend the night out on the town, singing your hearts out with each other or gluing your eyes to Alabama’s own show, ‘Iconic’, nearly every night, full of singing, lights, dancing, and tricks. And, to make it sweeter, two child tickets (aged 16 and under) are included free of charge with the purchase of one adult ticket to ‘Iconic’ during the summer months!
