Family Friendly Spots to Wine and Dine in Myrtle Beach

  By  Ashley Daniels

Ashley's Note: Living in Myrtle Beach, where most folks vacation, doesn’t mean we local parents don’t want to a night out to relax and unwind with a drink, while the kids are entertained at the same time! It’s a beautiful balance to take advantage of in Myrtle Beach, and these are some of my favorites I think will come yours, too.

Vacations with the kiddos in tow can be fast and furious, jam-packed with a flurry of activities in your itinerary. Which is why it’s important, parents, for you to plan some downtime into your schedule. It’s a good thing the Myrtle Beach area offers hundreds of opportunities to enjoy an adult beverage when you go out with the entire family, and these are some of the more unique dining/entertainment venues that you will want to wine and dine with the kids.

Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing

These two major entertainment complexes in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach feature a bounty of restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment venues galore, so you’ll definitely find a place to land for dining, a drink, and a side of fun. At Broadway, try The Hangout, Dave & Buster’s, PopStroke, or Joe’s Crab Shack. At Barefoot, choose LuLu’s, Big Chill Island House, or Crooked Hammock Brewery.

Crooked Hammock Family Games

Myrtle Beach Breweries

Myrtle Beach has a host of breweries with fun indoor/outdoor play areas for the kids, full menus or food trucks parked outside, and, of course, a long line of taps pouring craft beer. In addition to Crooked Hammock Brewery, there is Tidal Creek Brewhouse, Grand Strand Brewing Co., and New South Brewing. There are also plenty of yard games laid out at most of these to keep the kiddos occupied!

Pirates Voyage

Grab dinner and a show at this unique theatre that surrounds a giant pirate ship anchored in a lagoon. Arrive early, and the kids can get transformed into a swashbuckling pirate or beautiful mermaid. Showtime features a four-course pirate feast and an epic adventure that unfolds before you with Captain Blackbeard and Calico Jack in battle for lost treasure, aerialists, high divers, and more. Mom and Dad, you can order one of Pirates’ specialty cocktails, like the Sassy Wench or The Swordmaster.

Medieval Times

Your family will feel like royalty as soon as you step foot into this 11th century Medieval castle and into the massive arena, where you will witness knights performing on majestic horses, jousting, and competing for the queen’s favor. The plot line, the action, the special effects, and the four-course feast that you down with your hands (plus, the full-service bar) are guaranteed to be unforgettable.

River City Café

Choose from one of eight River City Café locations in the Myrtle Beach area and dig into their mega menu of burgers, hand-cut fries, and more delicious munchies. Kids will love cracking open the peanuts from the basket on the table and throwing them on the floor and crayoning all over the butcher paper tablecloth. Parents will love their ice-cold beer. And, if that’s not enough, know that USA Today named it “one of the best places in the nation to feed the kids.”

Dinoland

DinoLand Café

For a unique dining experience, go prehistoric and take the kids to DinoLand Café, a dinosaur-themed full-service restaurant with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, a lava mountain, and a flying dragon bar that serves margaritas and cocktails, like the Flaming Volcano.

Creek Ratz

This Murrells Inlet MarshWalk landmark has a cool-casual atmosphere and a fresh seafood menu. You can relax with a cold beer, and the kids can dance on the lawn off the boardwalk, where live music happens daily.
