The sixth annual Tunnel to Towers Foundation Walk and 5K Run is set for 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, at The Market Common.  The event begins at the intersection of Nevers Street and Farrow Parkway.  Drivers and runners, expect detours and road blocks at The Market Common on race day.  The Tunnel to Towers Foundation memorializes the sacrifice of all first responders on September 11, including Stephen Siller.  A 34 year old firefighter in Brooklyn, Siller responded to the call on September 11 by strapping 60 pounds of equipment and gear on his back and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, the longest tunnel in New York City (approximately 1.7 miles long), to rescue people in the World Trade Center.  Siller gave his life to save others, and his story inspired the annual nationwide events.  Questions?  Contact Captain Adam Oleszkowicz at [email protected].  To sign up as a participant or volunteer, see https://bit.ly/MyrtleBeachTunnels2Towers5K2023.
