Surf, Slides, and Waterway Sunsets: Camping at North Myrtle Beach RV Resort & Dry Dock Marina
Set along the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River, North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina feels like its own little world while staying minutes from the Grand Strand’s hustle and bustle.
A recent summer visit showed it’s much more than a place to park a camper. For kids and adults, it’s a full-fledged water playground.
The Main Event: The Double FlowRider
The resort’s headline attraction is its surf-simulating Double FlowRider, and it’s the only RV resort in the United States that has one!
Our lifeguard, Jacob, patiently coached first-timers through their rides, and by the end of the afternoon a couple of us had graduated from lying on our stomachs to up on our knees (and may or may not have bragged the whole way home about it).
Pools, Slides & the Splash Pad
The main pool features a powerful waterfall to swim through and a 150-plus-foot slide that’s long and fast enough to earn repeat trips from big and little kids alike. A convenient ramp makes the pool wheelchair accessible, and the hot tub is not to be overlooked!
The surprise favorite was the splash pad. A giant bucket tips over roughly every six minutes (yes, we timed it), drenching anyone brave enough to stand beneath it. It’s designed for younger children, but nobody told the adults—we saw more than a few grown-ups frolicking happily!
Where to Stay
The resort’s 233 sites are a generous size, with concrete pads, shaded pavilions at select spots, and nearly all offering full hookups.
Choose from pull-throughs, buddy sites for camping with friends, or smaller sites popular with snowbirds.
Daily trash pickup at your site and five meticulously cleaned bathhouses are small luxuries families will appreciate.
No camper? Fully furnished cottages sleep up to six in a one-bedroom or eight in a two-bedroom.
Food & Downtime
The tiki bar keeps things easy with a shrimp basket served with both fries and hushpuppies, a cod fish basket, refreshing slushies, and fun cocktails for the grown-ups.
When you are ready to dry off, there’s a playground, dog park, cornhole, horseshoes, an arcade, fossil digs in the sandbox, and movie nights.
Boaters will appreciate the Dry Dock’s massive storage facility and app for having your boat ready on request. Everyone else can find relaxation in a rocking chair on the waterfront pavilion.
Amenities are generally reserved for overnight guests, though there are occasionally ticketed events open to locals. This resort is a true hidden gem, and we’re so glad to know it’s right here in our own backyard.
