Fine Dining Restaurants on the Grand Strand

  By  Ashlee Carson
Seafood Dish at Hook & Barrel

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a romantic spot for a date night there are plenty of wonderful upscale Myrtle Beach restaurants that offer the most magical fine dining experiences. Sustainably sourced seafood, aged beef, melt in your mouth chocolate delights and amazing drinks and wine menus are just a few of my favorite things at these fine dining Grand Strand restaurants.

local's fav Cypress Dining Room at Island Vista
1. Cypress Dining Room at Island Vista

Cypress Room is located inside the beautiful Island Vista oceanfront resort along the Golden Mile in Myrtle Beach. Chef Mike McKinnon is a Myrtle Beach native and has been working at the resort for nearly 30 years. The oceanfront restaurant serves Grilled New York Strip Steaks with slow roasted tomato and a Bordelaise sauce, crab cakes, Chicken Marsala and Grilled Scottish Salmon with a fresh relish and shellfish cream sauce. All entrees come with a salad and your choice of freshly made sides.

local's fav Hook & Barrel
2. Hook & Barrel

Hook and Barrel opened just a few short years ago and has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors. Book your reservations for this fabulous date night site and enjoy house-crafted cocktails – oyster shooters anyone? – in a unique, nautical-themed setting. The menu includes features like the giant Seafood Tower, Bourbon Bacon, Bouillabaisse with fresh catch of the day, scallops, shrimp, lump blue crab meat and mussels in a charred tomato broth. There are plenty of options for meat lovers like the braised beef shortribs or the Croissants’ coffee rubbed Filet Mignon.

local's fav Wicked Tuna
3. Wicked Tuna

Wicked Tuna Grille, Sushi and Bar now offers two Grand Strand locations – both with stellar water views. Feast on the freshest seafood caught right off our coast! Their sushi bar lists over a dozen specialty rolls and they have equally impressive dinner menu. Some of our favorite dishes include the Oysters Rockefeller, Bang Bang Grouper, Crab Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp and the Lobster Tail Trio.

4. Sea Blue

Sea Blue Restaurant and Wine Bar is easily one of the Grand Strand’s most highly acclaimed restaurants as the recipient of OpenTable’s Best of Award of Excellence from 2012-2018. Their menu changes regularly according to season and availability of products and they always offer USDA Prime Steaks. Plates can include options like crispy fried lobster cake, baked escargot, seafood risotto and the chef’s preparation of the fresh catch of the day. The extensive wine list is three pages long and Sea Blue also has a list of specialty mixed drinks and beer.

local's fav New York Prime
5. New York Prime

Fine dining is the name of the game at New York Prime in the heart of Myrtle Beach. Each table features perfectly polished silverware with white tablecloths in a lively, upbeat setting. The servers can recommend any number of USDA Prime Steaks – aged 28 days – and served Pittsburgh-style with your choice of family-sized side dishes to share. Design your own seafood sampler tower or start with their famous thick cut sizzling bacon. Make your reservations now at this “Best Steak” restaurant in town. Private rooms are available for special events and reservations are always strongly suggested.

local's fav The Brentwood Restaurant & Wine Bistro
6. The Brentwood Restaurant & Wine Bistro

If you like the idea of sharing your meal with a ghost or two The Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bistro is the perfect spot for your next meal out. The ever-changing dinner menu is headed up by French chef Eric Masson and his wife Kimberlee. There are plenty of French dishes on the menu like pan-seared Foie Gras, Mussels Poulette, Duck Three Ways as well as traditional southern dishes like fried green tomatoes and Shrimp and Grits. Check out their website for their upcoming dinner and ghost tours for an exciting night out.

local's fav 21 Main Prime Steakhouse
7. 21 Main Prime Steakhouse

21 Main Prime Steakhouse is an award-winning restaurant at North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach. They offer USDA Prime cuts of beef served a la carte as well as sushi and raw bar selections. Top off your amazing steak with King Crab Legs or Oscar Style with lump crab meat, asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. Their shared sides are not to be skipped like the aged cheddar tater tots, lobster, bacon mac and cheese and the fire roasted mushrooms.

Cheese Fondue at Melting Pot
8. The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot has been a long time favorite for date nights – especially on Valentine’s Day! The restaurant offers several tasty fondue creations with nearly everything you can think to dip in their cheese and chocolate. For your night out you’ll select your first cheese course between options like Bacon and Brie, Wisconsin Cheddar and their Classic Alpine. Next up you can pick an entrée to cook right at your table with an assortment of meat, seafood and vegetables. The dessert course is usually the fan favorite with chocolates like Flaming Turtle and Bananas Foster. The Melting Pot has a highly acclaimed wine list as well as signature cocktails for the best fine dining experience. Reservations are highly suggested.

local's fav Aspen Grille
9. Aspen Grille

Aspen Grille in Myrtle Beach offers Fresh Carolina Cuisine on its seasonally changing menu. They use as many locally sourced items including fish and produce whenever possible and well as dry aged USDA Prime Beef to create a unique and delicious fine dining experience. Popular menu dishes include Pork Belly and Fried Oysters, Panko-crusted NC Mountain Trout, Crispy Long Island Duck and Australian Rack of Lamb. They have an extensive beer and wine list and nearly every brand of liquor type you can think of to whip up your favorite dinner drink.

Exterior of Franks Restaurant in Pawleys Island
10. Frank’s Restaurant & Bar and Frank’s Outback & Bar

As our southernmost fine dining pick, Frank’s and Frank’s Outback is one of the most popular restaurants on the Grand Strand so be sure to make your reservations weeks (sometimes even months) in advance. They serve a wide variety of fresh fish, meats, shellfish and even wood-fired pizzas. Take one glance at their popular reviews and you’ll see why folks love the food and service at Frank’s. Frank’s Restaurant offers indoor seating while the Outback side features outdoor patio dining with the same fine dining ambiance.
