The Grand Strand’s lodging landscape continues to transform with distinctive lodging properties providing unforgettable experiences.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. (October 30, 2026)—From oceanfront resorts and family-friendly hotels to vacation rentals, campgrounds and luxury accommodations, the Myrtle Beach area has long offered an extensive variety of places to stay across its 60 miles of coastline and 14 distinct communities. Building on that tradition, new construction, renovations and redevelopment projects are adding even more variety to the destination’s lodging landscape, with a collection of unique properties bringing even more style to a beach stay.

“Visitors have always loved the diverse options available across the Myrtle Beach area, and we’re seeing even more creativity in some of our newer properties welcoming guests,” said Stuart Butler, president, Visit Myrtle Beach. “These distinctive accommodations create a different kind of beach experience, with their own personalities, thoughtful amenities and connections to the destination.”

From floating houseboats to stylish boutique retreats, here are some exciting recent openings, renovations and upcoming lodging projects that create a distinctly memorable experience along South Carolina’s Grand Strand.

Luxury houseboats combine the comforts of a vacation rental with a distinctive experience on one of the coastal region’s local waterways. FLOHOM, which builds and manages modern floating villas across the East Coast, now has two rental options along the Grand Strand.

  • FLOHOM 15 | Palmera: Opened in April 2026 at Barefoot Marina in North Myrtle Beach, this luxury houseboat accommodates four guests on the Intracoastal Waterway. With amenities like a rooftop firepit and optional private chef experiences, FLOHOMs act as a floating boutique hotel rather than a traditional navigable houseboat.
  • FLOHOM 17 | Selah, Sailor: Opened in May 2026 and docked near the Palmera, this two-bedroom floating house accommodates up to six guests and features a rooftop deck with a firepit and panoramic waterway views.

Boutique hotels and intimate condo resorts bring a fresh personality to the Myrtle Beach area's established hospitality scene. With creative design elements and charming amenities, these properties offer new ways to experience the beach and beyond such as the proposed Hotel Conway, a boutique hotel planned for Conway’s historic downtown riverfront.

  • The Caretta: Expected to open in early 2027, this renovated 26-room boutique hotel on North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach will pair contemporary coastal design with ocean views, lawn games and a relaxation lounge featuring massage chairs.
  • Compass Hotel by Margaritaville: Expected to open in spring 2027 in North Myrtle Beach, this island-inspired hotel will feature tropical-themed accommodations, indoor and outdoor pools, and the 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
  • Ocean Escape Boardwalk Oceanfront: Opened in February 2026 along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, this 37-unit oceanfront property offers one- to three-bedroom condominium-style accommodations with full kitchens and private balconies in select units, along with easy access to downtown attractions.
  • voco The Shelby: Opened in June 2025, this 241-room Myrtle Beach oceanfront hotel is South Carolina's first voco property, an upscale, lifestyle hotel brand owned by InterContinental Hotels Group. It blends retro-inspired designs like mid-century signage and tropical murals with modern amenities.

Expansive vacation homes offer families and groups the opportunity to stay together with the space and amenities of a private residence. Among the luxury homes under construction, Rosalie Beach is a six-house development near downtown Myrtle Beach. Additional new homes are already accepting reservations.

  • Sunrise Point: Expected to debut in spring 2027, this 11-bedroom oceanfront home in Garden City Beach’s gated Inlet Harbour community will feature a private pool, spa, putting green and fitness room. Advance bookings are currently available.
  • Everyday Hallelujah: Expected to be available for bookings in April 2027, this 10-bedroom oceanfront home in Garden City Beach will accommodate up to 30 guests, featuring private en suite bathrooms, a pool and hot tub. Reservations are now being accepted.
  • You Are My Sunshine: Newly constructed in North Myrtle Beach's Windy Hill neighborhood, this nine-bedroom oceanfront home accommodates up to 32 guests with a private pool, hot tub and game room.
  • The Wicked Pearl: Opened in summer 2026, the custom-built, seven-bedroom luxury home sits blocks from the beach and the Surfside Beach Pier. Special features include a private pool, chef-inspired kitchen and three ocean-facing porches.
  • The Big Time: Built in 2025, this five-bedroom Surfside Beach vacation rental accommodates up to 16 guests and features a private pool and spa, just a short walk from the beach.

RV resorts and family campgrounds provide a charming recreational experience complete with scenic views. Several new RV resorts are currently being proposed across the Grand Strand such as a “glampground” near the Osprey Marina along the Intracoastal Waterway while others have announced recent enhancements.

  • Ocean Lakes Family Campground: New indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides and cabanas are coming to the campground’s Sandy Harbor recreational facilities with a completion time expected in May 2027.
  • Carolina Shores RV Resort: This camping resort celebrated its grand opening in May 2025 on a redeveloped portion of PirateLand Camping Resort located near Myrtle Beach State Park. It features RV sites, 22 rental cabins, renovated pools and a lazy river.
  • PirateLand Family Camping Resort: The RV campground opened Splashbuckler's Cove, a year-round indoor water park, in April 2026, along with additional campsite and recreational improvements.

These continued investments come as the Myrtle Beach area experiences broader destination improvements, including new dining and entertainment options, sports facilities, infrastructure projects and revitalization efforts.
