Florence has moved on and our beaches have never looked better. However, there is a lot of flooding and road closures leading into and out of the area. Travelers on the roads are encouraged to exercise extreme caution, plan ahead, and check SCDOT.org or call 511 for the latest information. Be patient and expect lengthy travel times, blocked roadways or detours.
If you would like to travel by train, the closest Amtrak station to Myrtle Beach is located in Florence, S.C. Please be aware that this station is located approximately seventy miles away from Myrtle Beach, so the best option would be to pre-arrange limousine, shuttle or bus service for the final hour or two ride to the beach.
Be aware that bus service is very spotty and Greyhound takes about 7-8 hours to arrive as there is no direct bus. Another option would be to drive the final leg of the trip yourself by renting a car in Florence where you can find all of the national brands such as Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, Alamo and others.
A second option is to arrive by train in North Charleston, S.C., which is located south of Myrtle Beach, is a bit further than Florence, but you can get Greyhound bus service into Myrtle Beach and it is about a 2 ½ hour bus ride.
