The Art Museum opened in 1997 and is dedicated to being one of the finest visual arts museums in the Carolinas. With 11 galleries that change throughout the year, Myrtle Beach’s only art museum offers exhibitions featuring paintings, textiles, sculpture, photography, video, ceramics, assemblage, collage and engages the community and visitors through interactive, educational and creative programs.

The World of Frida features 114 works of art in a variety of media by 94 artists from around the world in the Art Museum’s exciting summer exhibition, which was organized by The Bedford Gallery at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, CA, and has been traveling the country since 2018. The Art Museum is proud to be one of the last venues to host the traveling exhibition, particularly during this very special year, 2022 – the Art Museum’s 25th anniversary.

This creative three-day camp is inspired by the Art Museum’s 2022 summer exhibition, The World of Frid a. This exhibition features over 110 works of art that celebrate the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Following the tour, and for the next two and a half days, children will create daily art projects inspired by the art in our galleries, focusing on topics such as Mexican folk art, self-portraits and the importance of cultural heritage. At the end of camp, each student will have their own mixed media collage and personal sketchbook to take home to commemorate their time here at the Art Museum. $65 members | $75 non-members (includes daily instruction + supplies.
