Set along the banks of the beautiful Waccamaw River is the city of Conway. One of the oldest communities in South Carolina, Conway is the county seat of Horry County (pronounced OR-ee), and has all the charm and grace you'd expect of an older, Southern town. Oak tree-lined streets run through the picturesque historic district of Conway, inviting visitors to stay and learn more.

Numerous buildings and structures located in Conway are on the National Register of Historic Places. Among these is the City Hall building, said to have been designed by Robert Mills, architect of the Washington Monument. Other stately homes and structures and a revitalized business district offer much to explore during area walking tours while riverboat cruises, antique shops and appealing restaurants and cafés never fail to delight those venturing away from the coast for a visit.Experience the life of a farm family from 1900-1955 on the L.W. Paul Historical Farm.

A trip to the Horry County Museum, followed by a tour through the historic district is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, and the charismatic downtown area is home to picture-worthy Southern architecture, unique shops and a thriving art community. A stroll on the popular Riverwalk makes for a nice retreat from mid-summer beach crowds, and the city of Conway is home to many festivals and events throughout the year, including their annual Conway Riverfest.
