Born blind, Milsap discovered music at the North Carolina State School for the Blind and it wasn’t long before he found himself sharing bills with James Brown and Ray Charles, who told him “Son, I can hear the music inside you.” With 40 #1s, five decades of charted singles, and six Grammy’s he broke genre rules and became one of the biggest pop/AC and even R&B artists of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.
