Senior Adventure Day

  By  Visit Myrtle Beach

There’s nothing wrong with sitting in a beach chair all day watching the waves, but some like to explore and be a little more active on their vacations – and this itinerary is for you!

Kayaking can be a wonderful way to commune with nature in the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, marshlands, or rivers in the area while still remaining active. Great Escapes Kayaking Expeditions and J & L Kayaks offer tours throughout the Grand Strand.

While Myrtle Beach is bustling with attractions, there are also many locations that are excellent for bird watching. Stroll along a causeway at Huntington Beach State Park and spot wild birds as well as other animals. The Center for Birds of Prey also offers weekly programs and tours at their conservation facility outside Georgetown, SC.

Did you know that Myrtle Beach has their own baseball team? The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and hit home runs throughout the summer at their home field, TicketReturn.Com. They also offer food and drink specials throughout the week and fireworks on the weekend!

Original Benjamin's Calabash Seafood is an absolute must-see – and must-eat! Both a shipbuilding museum and buffet restaurant with over 130 options to choose from.

For a unique experience, try the Cruisin Tiki's, which is a tiki hut that tours around the Intracoastal Waterway and allows guests to bring their own food and drinks. They offer happy hour and sunset cruises that will allow you to relax and enjoy the salty air.

Located north of Myrtle Beach, Vereen Memorial Gardens is the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll, hike or bike ride on their many boardwalks ending with a nice gazebo on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Lastly, Thorny's, in downtown Myrtle Beach, is a sports pub with an extensive menu along with a delicious steak and prime rib special daily. For a marsh front view, head down to Murrells Inlet and try Drunken Jack's, located on the MarshWalk and is always serving up delicious, freshly caught seafood.
