
Make plans to bring family, friends and neighbors to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for the city’s National Night Out event, Tuesday, October 3, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.! Alongside residents, City of Myrtle Beach personnel will celebrate the 40th anniversary of National Night Out with food and fun activities for all ages. The event takes place in Exhibit Hall C at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, 2101 North Oak Street. Admission is free; parking is free; and, all food and drinks are free! Myrtle Beach’s Public Works, Police and Fire Departments will also be on hand with vehicles, K9s and service trucks. Various neighborhoods will compete in a signature dish competition, with winners selected by a panel of judges. And, Myrtle Beach’s Fire, Police and Neighborhood Services Departments will serve desserts for all to enjoy! Questions? In-City Neighborhoods… If you wish to participate in National Night Out, contact Crime Prevention Officer Stephani James at [email protected] as soon as possible to secure a table location and receive a $200 check for supplies. Remember to keep and submit receipts back to the city to document event supply purchases. Set-up begins at 3:00 p.m. Judging for the signature dish competition begins at 4:45 p.m., with doors opening to event attendees at 5:00 p.m. For the competition, each neighborhood is allowed to bring as many dishes as they’d like, and as much food as they’d like, to share. Each neighborhood will receive two table cloths, two aprons and two chef hats to use during the event. When tasting judges visit your neighborhood’s table, please let them know which dishes are for the signature dish competition. Judges will award a first, second, and third prize. Remember… You have the option to opt-out of the signature dish competition and serve food to neighbors and event attendees! Supply recommendations include small containers, cups, or plates for bite-sized amounts. The Neighborhood Services Department will also provide small containers and plates for serving. Neighborhoods may also decorate tables with family-friendly themes. New in 2023, the Neighborhood Services Department will reward the neighborhood with the most residents attending NNO with a pizza party at their next Neighborhood Watch meeting! Interested? The deadline for neighborhoods to sign up and receive a check for supplies is Monday, September 11. The $200 checks will be distributed during the last week of September.
