The Horry County Museum presents a lecture and book signing by Lee Brockington on Saturday, August 25th, on her new book Images of Pawleys Island.
Lee Brockington has created a small book of images with Steve Roberts, NY Times columnist and George Washington University professor. Lee will lecture on the history, changes and mystique of "the blessed isle," once the summer playground of plantation owners, then a well-known retreat for generations of families. Tiny in size and large by reputation, Pawleys Island has a story to tell.
Lee Gordon Brockington is a historian and educator on the Waccamaw Neck and is Senior Interpreter at Hobcaw Barony. She is editor of Pawleys Island, Stories from the Porch, a collection of oral history interviews, as well as author of Plantation Between the Waters, A Brief History of Hobcaw Barony.
The program will begin at 1:00 PM in the McCown Auditorium located at 805 Main Street, Conway SC. This event is free and open to the public.
