May is one of my favorite times of year here along the Grand Strand. Not just because it’s around the time I’ll start swimming in the ocean, but because it marks the official start of some of our larger area farmers markets. Before tourism was the number one industry in Horry County (where Myrtle Beach is located), farming and agriculture drove our local economy. While the area has evolved as tourism has thrived, it is still home to a number of outstanding farming operations that provide us with fantastic seasonal produce, meat products, eggs,…

Spring is one of my favorite times of year here in the Myrtle Beach area. While the weather may be a little more unpredictable, humidity is generally much lower than the summer months. The three-day festival runs from April 26 to April 28, 2019, and is hosted by the Myrtle Beach Downtown Redevelopment Corporation and the City of Myrtle Beach. Friday’s hours are 6 to 10…

Last weekend we caught a wonderful ‘Pops in the Park’ performance by the Long Bay Symphony at Marina Park at Grande Dunes. Beyond the perfect weather and setting (Marina Park is situated along the waterway), the music was phenomenal. The Long Bay Symphony is the Myrtle Beach area’s professional orchestra and while they usually perform at the Myrtle Beach High School Music and Arts Center, they can be heard at other special events and locations throughout the year. I’ve talked to many visitors and new residents to the area who are often…
