Here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, we consider Memorial Day weekend the official start to summer. Our public schools here locally have dismissed for summer break earlier in the week, the temperatures are solidly in the 80s, and we’re ready for beach picnics and time out on the water. If you’re lucky enough to be headed into town this weekend, you might want to check out one (or more!) of the below: Military Appreciation Days Parade and Family Picnic Saturday, May 26, 2018 Myrtle Beach celebrates Military Appreciation Days during the month of…

Regardless of the success of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans ball players on the field, 2018 already looks like a win for anyone looking to entertain their family this baseball season. The Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs released their promotional schedule for the year recently, and I really like what I’m seeing. Themes including Myrtle Beach Mermen Night, NASA Night, Women in Sports Night, Christmas Vacation Night, Old School Hip Hop Night, Cubs-A-Palooza, Star Wars Night and (what is sure to be our family’s favorite) Touch-A-Truck…

It’s no surprise that a few years ago, Trip Advisor rated Alligator Adventure as the number one attraction in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina . It’s as unique an attraction as it is memorable, and a place I’ve enjoyed every time I’ve visited. Anything that involves learning about animals is fascinating to me, but even if I wasn’t so interested in wildlife I think I would still find Alligator Adventure to be a worthy stop. The 15-acre park features over 200 species of animals on display at any given time, from reptiles to other exotic animals,…

As we head into the spring, our family is bound to be spending a good bit of time exploring Brookgreen Gardens . As the largest outdoor collection of American figurative sculpture in the world, Brookgreen has plenty to check out any time of year. But through May 13, 2018, attendees also have the chance to visit their one-of-a-kind dinosaurs exhibit. This exhibit is a first for Brookgreen Gardens, but I’m hoping it won’t be the last time they host something like this. While my three-year-old tends to prefer tractors over dinos, he had a blast.…

There is so much to love about The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. It’s been a great spot to grab lunch or dinner, do a little shopping, see a movie or even go for a run since it opened in 2008. But in 2016, the area made headlines when it became home to the Southeast’s first enabling playground, Savannah’s Playground . This playground is one-of-a-kind and beloved by visitors and locals alike. The $3 million, multi-acre park features all ADA-approved playground equipment designed so that children of all abilities have the opportunity to play…

When your toddler’s palate is just as discerning as yours, there are a few restaurants we recommend across our 60 miles of coastline that cater to tiny foodies as much as adult ones. 21 Main Settled within the gorgeous North Beach Plantation, 21 Main’s children’s menu includes a 4 oz filet with a side of mashed potatoes. Because everyone deserves a great cut of beef. Tupelo Honey Café A Low Country classic – shrimp & grits – is served in mini portion at this delicious Southern local. While the Rockin Jump Ultimate Trampoline Park is a GREAT rainy day activity in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, it’s really perfect for any weather. I stopped by recently with my (younger) friend Bre. She goes a lot, so I figured she would be best to give an official review! Rockin Jump is the area’s first indoor trampoline park and has something for everybody. The park is home to large open jump spaces, a challenge course, a vertical ops wall, dodgeball, a foam pit and more. Bre’s favorite part is the open jump space, but my favorite was the…

We love Myrtle Beach for family vacations because the location has so much to offer – delicious food & fun, family entertainment. Of course on our past visits here, we hadn’t had the chance to attend a baseball game so this year was our first. If you didn’t know this already, Myrtle Beach has a local Minor League Baseball Team called the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. They are a single A division and at one point affiliated with the Atlanta Braves but now with the Chicago Cubs. Growing up my husband did not have cable so the only two baseball teams…
