Myrtle Beach Area Christmas Tree Lightings in 2019

Wednesday, November 13, 2019 11:00 AM by Nora Battle

As the Grand Strand covers over 60 miles of coastline, we have our fair share of Christmas tree lightings and celebrations as we head into the holidays! The first one of the season is this coming Saturday, November 16. The Christmas tree lightings will continue for around a month, and most of them feature visits with Santa and kids activities. Having attended every single one of them at some point, I’d have to say it’s too hard to pick a favorite—all Christmas tree lightings are fun and beautiful events! We just keep switching it up and trying…

Temperatures are comfortable, space is plentiful, rooms are budget-friendly, and there are a wide-range of spectacular special events and festivals to enjoy! In addition to the beautiful 60-mile beach, family-friendly attractions, theaters and restaurants that thrill Myrtle Beach visitors year-round, if you visit this September, October or November, you can also enjoy some very popular events. For those who haven’t heard: Cocktail Artist, a line of premium mixes and bar ingredients, is in search of America’s Best Home Bartender in a Cocktail Mix-Off competition taking place in sunny Myrtle Beach this fall. We couldn’t think of a more fitting partnership--especially considering how much better a cocktail tastes when looking at the ocean--and we’re excited to see which finalist is picked for the month of August! While we wait, we thought we’d make a list of some of our favorite spots to enjoy a waterfront cocktail. There is certainly…

The Myrtle Beach area is known for its 60-mile long beach and a plethora of amazing attractions, but like most places, the region also has an interesting history. Most of the Grand Strand area resides within Horry County (pronounced O-ree), and residents and visitors are lucky enough to have the Horry County Museum at their disposal, so they can learn about the area’s rich history and partake in many educational programs. Did you know that Horry County was once home to Native American tribes, or that events from both the Revolutionary and…

One of my favorite day trips to recommend to Myrtle Beach area visitors is a drive in to Conway, South Carolina. Conway is a historic river town located just about 15 miles inland from downtown Myrtle Beach. Conway is the county seat for Horry County (the county that encompasses the majority of the Grand Strand) and is ripe with history and culture. Founded in 1732, many of the homes in downtown Conway are well over 100 years old. In addition to the architecture, the town’s other oldest residents are its beautiful live oak trees which decorate…

May is one of my favorite times of year here along the Grand Strand. Not just because it’s around the time I’ll start swimming in the ocean, but because it marks the official start of some of our larger area farmers markets. Before tourism was the number one industry in Horry County (where Myrtle Beach is located), farming and agriculture drove our local economy. While the area has evolved as tourism has thrived, it is still home to a number of outstanding farming operations that provide us with fantastic seasonal produce, meat products, eggs,…
