Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is well known as a premier shopping destination. The area is home to two Tanger Outlets, indoor and outdoor shopping malls, a variety of specialty boutiques and nationally-known brands and stores. But come Saturday, September 25, 2021, the focus will be on bargain hunting at South Carolina’s Largest Garage Sale—a fun, annual event held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center (2101 North Oak Street, Myrtle Beach).
The sale lasts from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall of the convention center and draws thousands both locally and from out-of-town. Admission for shoppers is free and parking at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center is just $5 per car. I’ve been in year’s past and a few of my finds still sit on bookshelves in my living room! Vendors come from all over and feature a wide variety of things. I’m usually on the lookout for fall and Christmas decor, given the time of year, and it never disappoints.
In year’s past, the Garage Sale has featured around 300 vendors, so a wide selection is pretty much guaranteed! This year, the Sheraton (located at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center) offered some special group rates for South Carolina’s Largest Garage Sale vendors and shoppers, so I’m hoping the turn out will be even larger.
While the event is fun to check out as a day trip for those living relatively close, I like the idea of making a weekend of the bargain shopping fun. Especially because shoppers will want to arrive sooner rather than later. Those who shop garage sales regularly know—the early bird always gets the worm!
