We take Cinco de Mayo seriously in Myrtle Beach. Partly because margaritas and coronas taste better in the South Carolina sunshine and partly because we just love a good fiesta. While one of the more popular annual events, “Burro Fest,” won’t take place this year (the Mexican restaurant that hosts the event is closed for renovations), Broadway at the Beach has announced they’ll be having a party big enough for everyone.
The day’s festivities are set to begin with a 5k race at 8:30 a.m. at Senor Frog’s at Broadway at the Beach. Race packet pick up will begin at 7 a.m., and the restaurant will host a complimentary breakfast and live music following the race for runners. To register for the race, check out www.active.com.
The Avenue section of Broadway at the Beach will host live music by Julio & the Saltines outdoors from 1 to 7 p.m.; while at 7 p.m., Oz the Experience and Malibu’s Surf Bar will continue the celebration with drink specials, live music and DJs.
The Myrtle Beach area is home to a number of awesome Mexican restaurants, many of which will have their own drink specials and events throughout the day. Some to check out include: Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant, Nacho Hippo and Mexico Lindo. Or you could just use the restaurant search tool at www.GrandStrandRestaurants.com. Taco bout a good time!
