One of our favorite activities along the Grand Strand is kayaking. Whether on a tour or solo rental, we've always thought that kayaking is one of the best ways to explore the natural side of the Myrtle Beach area. But some area outfitters also offer much more than kayaking for those looking to explore the outdoors, and Plantation Island Tours, located at Tilghman's Point in Little River is one such business.
Plantation Island Tours offers daily UTV rides, surf fishing expeditions, eco-tours, summer day camps, and kayaking tours all on the property of this historical plantation. The Civil War-era site of Fort Randall is just one stop on along these expansive tours that are sure to please any history buff or nature lover. And lunch at the beach doesn't get much better than picnicking on beautiful Waities Island, yet another stop for those on tour.
Dedicated to preserving this natural environment, Plantation Island Tours offers only a limited number of tours daily, so it's best to make reservations in advance of your travel. But it's well worth the trip from Central or South Myrtle Beach to North Myrtle Beach and the Little River area, especially during the middle of the busy season, to have the opportunity to collect shells, fish in the surf, and explore local history with a personal tour guide along these undeveloped and never-crowded miles of coastline.
