Deviled eggs are not just delicious, they’re also quite nutritious. Eating two deviled eggs, or essentially one whole egg, supplies your body with 6 grams of protein; folate, vitamin B-6 and vitamin B-12, which all help convert food into energy; and three forms of vitamin A, among others.
Frank’s in Pawleys Island takes the whole thing one step further, by dipping the egg whites in a panko-and-milk bath and then deep-frying the thing before piping in deviled yolk. Top that off with jalepeno and bacon and it’s a recipe for amazingness. Never you mind that all that deep-frying might cancel out the nutrition. It’s worth it.
Deviled Egg Recipe
6 eggs hard-boiled
2T bacon, cooked and crumbled
2T minced pickled jalapeno
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Cut boiled eggs in half and remove yolks. Place yolks in a bowl with mayo, 1T bacon and 1T jalapeno. Mix well forming a paste. Season with salt and pepper.
Dip egg white in milk bath then in Panko and repeat. Fry until golden brown. Pipe the egg mixture into egg white and top with a little of the remaining jalapeño-bacon mix.
