Just a short drive west of the Intracoastal Waterway from Myrtle Beach is the master-planned community of Carolina Forest. This is a relatively new community that is booming with new construction, primarily residential, but you’ll also find some terrific restaurants, recreation centers, shopping and golf courses.
Located between Myrtle Beach and Conway, you can easily access Carolina Forest off the 501 or from Robert Grissom where it turns into International Drive. Nearly half of this 25 square-mile area has been set aside for conservation, and you’ll notice beautiful sections of pine trees and hardwood forests.
If you choose to take a short 15-minute drive from the beach to check out the quiet, green neighborhood of Carolina Forest, here are some things you can do:
Spend the morning at an area golf course such as the Scottish-inspired Wizard Golf Links, The Man O' War Golf Club, Myrtle Beach National on the west end of Carolina Forest, or beautiful River Oaks Golf Plantation, which offers views of the Intracoastal Waterway.
Shop the day away at Tanger Outlets on Highway 501. Here, you’ll find dozens of name-brand stores with terrific prices. There are also a number of other shops in the Kroger Plaza and the Publix Plaza areas.
Carolina Forest is home to a unique spa called Salt Escape. Enjoy amazing health benefits and relax.
Find Speed and Great Events
In Carolina Forest off the 501, check out Myrtle Beach Speedway and the NASCAR Racing Experience. The track is also home to the annual Horry County Fair, which takes place each April, Hippie Fest, and several other special events.
Eat Great Food
For lunch or dinner, head to the Forest Crossings Plaza just off River Oaks Drive where you’ll find Brother Shuckers Fish House and Tavern In the Forest. Nearby is the newly-opened Sneaky Beagle (part of the Grumpy Monk family), where dogs are welcome on their beautiful patio. Close to Highway 501 right off Carolina Forest Blvd, check out King Kong Sushi Bar, or Handley’s Pub & Grub.
One of our 14 vibrant Myrtle Beach neighborhoods, Carolina Forest offers a laid-back vibe all its own. Check it out on your next visit to the Grand Strand area.
