The holiday season is full of fun activities and events happening along the Grand Strand. Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, the area’s only waterway shopping, dining and entertainment complex, is celebrating the holiday season with a variety of fun activities the entire family will enjoy.
Barefoot Landing’s annual holiday ceremony, the Lighting of the Landing, will take place on Saturday, November 17. This festive event will feature a visit from Santa, along with holiday music from The Alabama Theatre, the Risen Christ Lutheran School Choir, and other local groups and individuals. This is one of my favorite Christmas events to attend, and I like to get to Barefoot early to spend time shopping at their unique shops, and afterwards I like to get appetizers and drinks at a couple of my favorite restaurants there like Greg Norman’s Australian Grille and Flying Fish.
The fun starts at 4 p.m. with a petting zoo, holiday inflatable, stilt walkers and making holiday cards for the troops. Performances will begin at 6 p.m. in Dockside Village across from LuLu’s, with the lighting of the 22-foot tall tree to follow. A fireworks spectacular will take place over the lake at 7 p.m.
The holiday festivities will continue with numerous other activities every Friday and Saturday from November 23 through December 15. Friday, November 23rd and 30th and December 7th and 14th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. is Friday Family Fun Night along the lawn in Dockside Village between the Amphitheater and the children’s playground. When the sun is getting ready to set, the activities at Barefoot Landing have just begun with inflatables, face painting, stilt walkers and balloon animals. At 8 p.m. enjoy fireworks over the lake.
Saturday, November 24th and December 1st, 8th, and 15th from noon to 4 p.m. enjoy Saturday Afternoon Fun with the Family! Enjoy the great outdoors at Barefoot Landing with visits from Santa on the Amphitheater stage, inflatables, petting zoo, face painting, stilt walkers and balloon animals. At 6 p.m. bring a blanket or chair and watch The Polar Express (November 24), Christmas Story (December 8), and The Santa Clause (December 15) on the lawn of the Amphitheater.
