The holiday season is here at The Beach! It is time to deck the halls, bake the Christmas cookies, drink the hot chocolate, wrap the presents, and remember all your favorite holiday traditions that make this time of year special. We are reminiscing on all our favorite memories and traditions with our friends who perform at the various live shows around the Grand Strand.
They shared their favorite holiday memories in this video below:
I have two favorite Christmas memories – I can’t pick just one! My first favorite holiday memory is baking cookies with my mom and sister. These weren’t just any cookies; we only make these cookies at Christmas. We would use a cookie press to shape them into wreaths, trees, ribbons, and other festive designs, and add red and green sprinkles on top. Then, we would change into our Christmas pajamas, grab the tin of cookies, and hop in the car to go look at Christmas lights, either in our neighborhood or a Christmas lights display in our town. My dad would wear his Santa hat, and we would sing carols loudly in the car as we ate our special Christmas cookies!
My second favorite Christmas memory is helping my dad, who served in the Marine Corps, with the Toys for Tots toy drive each year as a kid. We would pick out toys at the store for a little girl or boy, and then help my dad organize them into bins depending on the age group. I remember thinking about what the little girl or boy my age would like to play with and pick out a special gift for them! My parents taught my sister and I from an early age that it is better to give than receive, and that sentiment is still important to remember in my adult life.
