While it may sound best to say that it’s always sunny in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the truth is that it does rain from time to time. While the sunny days far outweigh rainy ones (Myrtle Beach is blessed with 215 sunny days a year), it can be frustrating to see clouds begin to form over what was planned as a perfect beach day. But a day or two of rain shouldn’t deter you from having a good time and making the most of your time away on vacation… especially when you take a look at the many activities perfectly suited for an overcast day.
From malls and outlet stores to specialty shops and boutiques, there are plenty of great places to find the perfect rainy day souvenir or new outfit. Coastal Grand Mall, Myrtle Beach Mall, The Market Common and Tanger Outlets are just a few of the many locations worth checking out.
There are a ton of fantastic all-weather attractions great for families visiting the Myrtle Beach area. A few of those best suited for a rainy day include: Ripley’s Aquarium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, Wonderworks Myrtle Beach, Rockin' Jump and the Art Museum of Myrtle Beach.
Most live entertainment theaters along the Grand Strand have shows daily, which means you can catch a performance any day of the week, rain or shine. The Alabama Theater, The Carolina Opry, Legends in Concert, Pirates Voyage and Medieval Times each offer unique, world-class theater performances. Catching a summer blockbuster is another great way to pass a rainy afternoon, and movie theaters can be found at The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, Coastal Grand Mall and Myrtle Beach Mall.
From bowling to arcades to laser tag, there are plenty of spots to keep entire families indoors and busy on a rainy day. A few of our favorites are: 810 Billiards and Bowling, Fun Plaza Arcade in Myrtle Beach, Garden City Pavilion Arcade and Extreme Laser Tag in Myrtle Beach.
If you’re spending a rainy day with friends or your significant other and not concerned about entertaining children, another great option is having a spa day at Cinzia Spa, dine out at one of Myrtle Beach's many restaurants, or visiting Duplin Winery. Any of the above will leave you relaxed and ready for tomorrow’s sunshine!
