Back for its third year in the Myrtle Beach area, The Native Sons Salt Games is bringing excitement, competition, teamwork, competition, fun, competition, the beach and competition front and center this weekend.

Oh, and in case we didn’t make it almost annoying clear, competition is a big part of this two-day event, running May 30 and May 31 at the old Pavilion site near Eighth Avenue North in downtown Myrtle Beach.

There is a pro-am surfing tournament, a pro volleyball competition, a paddleboarding race and a kids’ race.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Plenty of great entertainment will be found, including tug-of-war, live music, a half pipe for open skating and a hot dog eating contest.

The Salt Games are free and fun for the whole family.

It’s just another reason to spend some quality time at the beach this summer. Just heed your mother’s advice and never forget the sunblock!
