This year has been hard on so many people, and local shops, artisans, farmers, and craftsmen are no exception. As the holidays approach, one of the things we try to do is buy some of our gifts locally. The Waccamaw Market Cooperative has made that easy for us by hosting a series of ‘Holiday Markets’ at three different locations along the Grand Strand this Christmas season.
The Holiday Markets are similar in nature to the Waccamaw Market Cooperative’s regular farmers market (one of my all-time favorite things about summer in the south), but offer some unique holiday items as well. What visitors will find will vary per market but may include: fresh produce, baked goods, wood crafts, artisan soaps, gourmet popcorn, holiday fudge, eggs, pottery, hand blown glass, ceramic art, handmade jewelry, honey, and more. Additionally, two of the markets (Magnolia Row and Valor Park locations) are situated at two of our favorite places to shop year round—so we’re excited to be able to make a day of shopping both the Holiday Market and other storefronts.
The markets can be found Tuesdays through December 15, 2020, in Surfside Beach at the corner of Surfside and Willow Avenue from 12 to 4 p.m., Thursdays through December 17, 2020, at Magnolia Row at 44th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays through December 19, 2020, at Valor Park in The Market Common from 12 to 4 p.m. While these markets are open-air and outdoors, masks are required where social distancing isn’t possible. We want to stay healthy while we shop for local holiday fare! For more information on the Holiday Markets, visit WaccamawMarkets.org.
