A Christmas parade is a fun way to energize the holiday spirit, and there are a couple coming up this weekend we plan on checking out! One of the things I love about a parade is that it gets my family outdoors together, which is more of a perk this year than ever before. So we’ll pack our Santa hats, Christmas-themed face coverings and plan on social distancing this coming Saturday and Sunday for two different parades.
On Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 2 to 5 p.m., the town of Surfside Beach hosts their annual Christmas Parade. It’s one of the largest along the Grand Strand with over 100 entries, including floats and marching bands. The route follows Ocean Boulevard from Melody Lane to Surfside Drive to Poplar Drive. This parade is exceptionally popular with families (my children took home so much candy last year!), and arriving early to secure a good spot is key. The parade happens rain or shine—though they will cancel in the case of lightning. The forecast however is looking sunny, with highs in the upper 60s! For more information on the Surfside Beach Christmas Parade head to www.surfsidebeach.org.
Then on Sunday, December 13, 2020, beginning at 3 p.m., Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach is hosting their 2nd Annual Holiday Golf Cart Parade. Registration is only $10 and still open for those who want to enter their own decorated golf cart or walking group. The $10 entry fee is donated directly to the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society and prizes will be awarded for the best holiday-decorated golf carts. But whether you’re participating or just watching, you’ll certainly leave with Christmas cheer. The Holiday Golf Cart Parade starts by Greg Norman Australian Grille and winds through scenic Barefoot Landing. Our suggestion is while you’re at Barefoot Landing, make the most of your visit by sticking around for happy hour or some Christmas shopping once the golf cart parade is over. ’Tis the season!
