October is one of my favorite times of year in the Myrtle Beach area for so many reasons. The weather is agreeable (goodbye summer humidity), the beaches less crowded, and the Grand Strand knows how to host a killer Oktoberfest event. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest event, scheduled for this Friday, October 12, 2018, and Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Grand Park at The Market Common.

This is definitely one of the area’s larger festivals as it features over 50 vendors, kids activities and inflatables, pony rides, Oktoberfest beer, food, live music and more. The festival goes from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and then 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Attendees can expect live entertainment throughout all hours of the festival by groups like Channellheimer Oompah German Band, Bangarang, Tastes Like Chicken and more.

One of the things I’m most looking forward to (other than the large pretzel I plan on eating) is the slightly cooler weather we’re supposed to get this weekend. Sunshine and highs in the 70s will make for a perfect day celebrating one of my favorite beverages. For more information on Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest, visit www.myrtlebeachbeerfest.com/oktoberfest.
