MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (May 14, 2012) -The U.S. Travel Association's "Vote Travel" bus tour will stop in the Myrtle Beach area on May 17 at 3 p.m. at the 8th Avenue North beach access in downtown Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes, area business and political leaders along with advocates of the travel and tourism industry will be present to welcome the bus and take photos with U.S. Travel Association representatives.
Those who show up to support the free "Vote Travel" bus event may receive a t-shirt and also can be entered to win one of six Pelican's baseball ticket and souvenir packages.
Mayor Rhodes will address those attending along with Cathy Keefe of the U.S. Travel Association, who will speak about the overall "Vote Travel" campaign and the national efforts of the U.S. Travel Association. Coastal Carolina University's Dr. Rob Salvino and Gary Loftus will also present the results of the latest CCU economic impact study examining Myrtle Beach area tourism spending and statistics.
"We are so excited to host the ‘Vote Travel' bus in our area this Thursday. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB and the U.S. Travel Association share many of the same goals as we seek to create jobs, improve the economy and foster the overall growth of the travel and tourism industry within our nation, state, and the Myrtle Beach area," said Nora Battle, spokesperson for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB. "We will have copies of the U.S. Travel Association's "Vote Travel" pledge and are encouraging all elected officials or those currently running for office in the Myrtle Beach area to attend and sign the pledge. It's a great way to shore up local, grassroots support for an industry that employs over 73,000 households in our community."
U.S. Travel launched the national bus tour in Washington, DC on March 21, and will travel more than 20,000 miles, making 37 stops in destinations such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas and others. The bus tour aims to boost the visibility of the travel industry during the 2012 election year. As a part of its "Vote Travel" campaign, America's travel industry is hitting the road and campaigning to create more U.S. jobs, improve the travel process, make America more competitive globally and keep the business and meetings industry thriving.
