Following the U.S. Senate's passage of an immigration reform bill on June 27, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:

"We are pleased to see the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly pass comprehensive immigration reform. This legislation is important, necessary and long overdue. This Senate bill is far from perfect, but we commend the measures that are in place to protect our borders and improve our economy. Additionally, this bill creates a realistic path to citizenship for those immigrants who obey our laws, learn our language and make meaningful contributions to our society. Past inaction by Congress has enabled unintended amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants and this situation is simply unacceptable. We commend Sen. Lindsey Graham for his tireless leadership on this important issue. Lastly, we encourage the U.S. House of Representatives to fix our immigration system by passing similar legislation."
