MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Jim Creel, Jr. has been elected as the next chairman for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce's board of directors. He will hold the title of chairman-elect before assuming the new role on Jan. 1, 2015.

This annual election by the board of directors took place at their Sept. 18 meeting.

"I am humbled by the confidence the board has entrusted in me and I look forward to serving as the next chairman of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce," Creel said. "The chamber and community business leaders work closely together to promote the local business community and the entire Grand Strand area to its residents as well as over 16 million visitors each year. The continued success in our small business development and tourism growth efforts is a testament to the collaborative leadership of both the chamber and the business community in promoting our area locally, regionally and nationally."

"These initiatives also extend to the solid leadership provided by current chamber Chairman Ted Fortenberry and his predecessors, and I look forward to continuing all their great work."

Creel currently serves as vice president of The Creel Corporation.

Additionally, he has served as member of the MBACC board of directors for the previous two years.
