MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Carolina University, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, Horry Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS will host the 2014 Grand Strand Legislative Reception for South Carolina General Assembly members on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m.

It will be held at the Clarion Hotel Downtown at 1615 Gervais St., in Columbia. The reception is invitation only and will not be open to the public.

The goal of the legislative reception is to increase awareness and understanding of the greater Myrtle Beach area's numerous contributions to the state and its economy. The event also underscores the importance of supporting the area's critical needs during the 2014 legislative session. A member survey is conducted annually by the MBACC to help determine upcoming fiscal and policy issues of concern at the local, state and federal levels.

"The great thing about the legislative reception is the opportunity it provides business owners, chamber members and community leaders to meet with state lawmakers and find out their stance on a number of issues," said Mike Hill, chairman of the chamber's legislative policy council.
