MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Brookgreen Gardens became one of 30 institutions across the country to receive a grant from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
The $5,000 Nature Play Begins At Your Zoo and Aquarium grant will fund the expansion of Brookgreen Gardens’ children’s nature and sensory trail, which opened earlier this year.
“We are very proud of the work Brookgreen Gardens continues to do in expanding programs that give families a better understanding of both our natural wonders and the beautiful works of art that adorn the premises,” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Grants like these ensure Brookgreen’s great contributions to the Myrtle Beach area are secure for the foreseeable future.”
The national grant, which is used to encourage family nature play and conservation education, is supported through a gift from the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. The winning institutions were selected through a rigorous review by a panel of industry experts.
