Fishing

If your heart pounds with every hook-up, fishing in the Myrtle Beach Area is for you. From offshore charter captains who specialize in hooking you into sharks, tuna and sailfish to name a few, to inshore, back bay and inlet charters that put you into the heat of the action a little closer to home, you'll find some of the best fishing on the coast. Head to the inland waters and fish the scenic Waccamaw River or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, surf fishing or a one day pass at many of the areas ocean piers offer plenty of excitement.

Campgrounds

Also known as the campground capital of the world, with close to a dozen campgrounds and more the 7000 campsites, you can plan your Myrtle Beach stay in an unspoiled natural setting nestled along acres and acres of sandy beach. Campgrounds in the area are famous for their amenities and activities such as surfing lessons, guided nature walks and tours and additional outdoor excursions. Ocean Lakes Family Campground, PirateLand Oceanfront Campground and Lakewood Camping Resort are a few of the great places to get started.

Two State Parks

Myrtle Beach State Park - You would never expect to find an oceanfront 312 acre state park in the heart of one of the east coasts major tourist destinations. Donated in 1934 by Myrtle Beach Farms, this state park offers nature tours, engaging programs and educational programs surrounding the natural resources of the park. Nature trails, equestrian trails, bike paths, an ocean fishing pier, and tent and RV camping in the oceanfront woods just 300 years from the beach are just the beginning.

Huntington Beach State Park - Pristine beaches, the finest bird-watching on the East Coast, the chance to see endangered plants and animals up close and endless options for outdoor activities make this 2,500 state park located at the southern end of the Myrtle Beach area a great item to add to your itinerary. Get your lines wet with ocean jetty fishing, access the inlet, marshes and back bays via a boat ramp, get the blood running on a two mile or ¼ mile hiking trail and stay the night camping.
