Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo | Rules and Regulations | Fish Divisions | State Record Information Enter your catch in the 2009 Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo... caught from pier, surf, inlet or deep sea... for monthly decals, shoulder patches, and prizes totaling over $7,000 in cash and merchandise. A grand prize of $2,000 is awarded at the end of the rodeo. The weigh master whose name is on the grand prize winner's entry card receives $200. The 2009 Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo Awards Ceremony will culminate with the drawing of one name from the "Grand Prize Winners Box." Anglers must be present to win the Grand Prize. Spring King Mackerel Tournament WinnersOne hundred forty-nine anglers competed for cash prizes in the 29th annual Spring Pier King Mackerel Tournament, which took place June 12-14 on local fishing piers: Apache Pier, Cherry Grove Pier, Myrtle Beach State Park Pier, Second Avenue Pier, Springmaid Pier, Surfside Pier and The Pier at Garden City.
First Place: Steve Taylor of Easley, S.C. (Because only three king mackerels were caught, the names of the fourth- and fifth-place winners were drawn in accordance with tournament rules and regulations.) Fall King Mackerel TournamentOne hundred forty-six anglers competed for cash prizes in the 29th annual Fall King Mackerel Tournament, which took place Setember 18-20 on local fishing piers: Apache Pier, Cherry Grove Pier, Myrtle Beach State Park Pier, Second Avenue Pier, Springmaid Pier, Surfside Pier and The Pier at Garden City.
