The Horry County Museum and the AVX Foundation present a lecture by Robin Salmon on Saturday, November 4th, on American veteran sculptors in the Brookgreen Gardens collection.
Many of the sculptors in the Brookgreen Gardens collection served in the military or in military support jobs during wartime and its aftermath. In observance of Veterans Day, this talk will detail those who served and what they did (including some decorated heroes:, those who created our country's important patriotic monuments, and some of the real "Monuments Men" who save international art treasures during and after World War II.
A native South Carolinian, Robin Salmon has been on the staff of Brookgreen Gardens since 1975. She oversees the acquisition, exhibition, and conservation of Brookgreen's art, history, library, and archives collections, and directs the activities of the Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. Center for American Sculpture at Brookgreen Gardens.
