Set in 1944 Italy, this film tells the story of four black American soldiers who become trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII. Miracle at St. Anna is adapted from the 2003 book by James McBride and is directed by Spike Lee. At the conclusion of the film, Maggi Morehouse, professor of history at CCU, provides the historical context for the film and leads a discussion on race, identity, nationalism and citizenship in war and the military. The film will play in the Coastal Theater of the LIb Jackson Student Union at Coastal Carolina University on September 27th at 5 pm.
