Most everyone is aware that the Myrtle Beach area is the golf capital of the U.S. When you've got more than 100 professional courses, it's kind of hard not to be.

So, suffice it to say, we see our fair share of golf tournaments every year. What might be a surprise is that we also play host to the most prestigious mini-golf tournament in the land.

The Myrtle Beach Golf Masters comes to the Myrtle Beach area every October at the Hawaiian Rumble Mini Golf Course in North Myrtle Beach. It's one of 30 events sanctioned by the U.S. Pro Mini Golf Association, and it's the most coveted title among the tour's pros.

More than 60 mini golfers come from around the world each year to compete. They're playing for the first-place prize of $4,000 and a green jacket, er, windbreaker.

It's truly a fun event, and one worth checking out. Just look out for that windmill!
