Fall is an ideal time for runners everywhere to lace up their sneakers and log in a few miles. The temperatures are cooler, the leaves are showcasing their vibrant colors and the lower humidity is a welcome relief for any number of reasons.

Oh yeah, it's also the time when Myrtle Beach gets to put its best foot forward and welcome thousands of runners from across the country for the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon.

When the annual fall meet returns on Oct. 20, it's going to have a bit of a facelift. The course has been revamped to feature the best of Myrtle Beach and has more than five miles of oceanfront running.

The words "oceanfront running" should be appealing enough to participants. But it gets even better. The course is flat and has only seven turns throughout. Being race enthusiasts ourselves, we can definitely say this layout is a runner's dream.

Of course, the mini marathon is the star attraction, but there are plenty more events going on over the course of this fall weekend. There will also be a two-day health and fitness expo, the Coastal 5K, the sure-to-be-adorable Doggie Dash and an 80-meter High Heel Run.

A complete schedule of events and registration information can be found here. See you at the finish line!
