We were excited to learn about a halftime promotion you don't see all the time when VisitMyrtleBeach.com sent out a press release earlier this week. The promotion? Baby racing. The track? 15 yards in length near center court at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus at Coastal Carolina University. The prize? Diapers for all those who participate, and a $500 college savings bond and Myrtle Beach prize package valued at $500 for the winner. The cost to enter? Free.

Why is this a good thing? Because babies are cute, it's free to enter and the prizes rock. The big race will happen during halftime of the Big South Conference men's championship game on Sunday, March 10. The basketball tournament began March 5 and has attracted thousands to the area in support of the twelve different schools in the conference that are vying for the championship. It's worth mentioning, too, that individual tickets are now on sale for each game for the rest of the tournament. You can find out more about getting yours here.

If you're a parent entering a baby for the race however, you may be up for a free men's championship game ticket, as VisitMyrtleBeach.com is providing a limited number of free tickets for the first parents to enter. You can enter your tot easily online here, but keep in mind that participants must be 18 months old or younger and only able to crawl.

Another fun aspect of this promotion? Parents have the opportunity to see their baby on the Jumbotron during the game by choosing to submit a photo when they enter. Officials say a limited number of entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, and contestants will be contacted and provided information once they're entered. The deadline to enter is noon on Friday, March 8. Babies, start your engines!

VisitMyrtleBeach.com's 'Big South Baby Race to Myrtle Beach' is calling all crawlers.
