As longtime locals of the Myrtle Beach area, we can attest that there is not much more cool than encountering a wild dolphins swimming along our shore. Even at a distance, seeing these highly
intelligent creatures catch fish and play in the Atlantic Ocean is a treat. That's why one of our favorite attractions this year is Blue Wave Adventures Dolphin Watching Tours.

If you're looking for a way to get beyond the beach on your vacation, this is the perfect way to do so. Blue Wave Adventures operates seven days a week, March through November, and offers three ways to tour the area: their dolphin watch, a pirate island kayak trip, and private charters. While plenty of wildlife will be seen on the more adventuresome kayak trip, we think the length of time and price of the dolphin watch tou simply can't be beat.

While dolphin tracking is more of an art than science, this group boasts around an 85 percent success rate. They say the likelihood of seeing these fantastic mammals is greater in the morning, so many of the tour times depart earlier, rather than later, and last around 1.5 hours.

Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Crazy Sisters Marina at (843) 651-3676 and asking for Blue Wave Adventures. One of the best aspects of this tour? The price. An adult ticket will run you about $31 and a child's ticket costs $25, but if you check out their website you can snag a $3 off coupon that makes the trip even more affordable (and totally worth it).
