A couple weeks ago, we went to the brand new Savannah’s Playground at the Market Common in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the park’s grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. To say the gathering was heartwarming is an understatement. It was a perfect morning made up of beautiful weather, beautiful people and a beautiful community coming together to celebrate the realization of a dream long in the works. Savannah’s Playground—a project of Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes, several area legislators, business people and community members—is…

Visit the Shark Wake Park

My friend Rachel and I spent an afternoon last week at the new Shark Wake Park in North Myrtle Beach. The park features cable wakeboarding—a pretty new addition to the world of extreme sports—and Shark Wake Park is the first of its kind here along the Grand Strand. At the park, kneeboarders and wakeboarders take hold of a cable that runs around a lake in about a 1.1-mile loop. So there’s no boat! And what you pay is determined by how long you plan on being on the water and whether you need to rent the equipment or not. Now Rachel actually has…

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is the perfect place to pick up a shelling hobby. With over 60-miles of uninterrupted shoreline, you can walk for miles and explore a variety of beaches in search of the perfect seashell. While even shelling enthusiasts admit that luck and chance have a large role in determining what shells one finds on the beach, there are a few things that can certainly increase your chances. Laura Rusinko, president of the Grand Strand Shell Club, shared these tips with us last week: Have the Right Equipment While all you…

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans , one of America’s premier minor league baseball franchises, are certainly the beloved boys of summer along the Grand Strand. The high A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, the Pelicans enjoy the benefit of one of the game’s strongest farm systems and one of minor league baseball’s best stadiums in TicketReturn.com Field. On average, more than 3,000 fans - a number that will be on the rise throughout the summer - pack the stadium for home games, and the reasons are many. TicketReturn.com Field enjoys a prime location on 21st…

We love Myrtle Beach for family vacations because the location has so much to offer – delicious food & fun, family entertainment. Of course on our past visits here, we hadn’t had the chance to attend a baseball game so this year was our first. If you didn’t know this already, Myrtle Beach has a local Minor League Baseball Team called the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. They are a single A division and at one point affiliated with the Atlanta Braves but now with the Chicago Cubs. Growing up my husband did not have cable so the only two baseball teams…

Hello, race fan(s), and welcome to Mostly Amazing's exclusive coverage of the National Family Vacation League's Myrtle Beach Triathlon! Next in the starting gate we have the Bisbys, who are taking part in the MBT for the first time. Veterans of the Big White Marathon, the Great Wolf Lodge Ultra-Marathon and the Disney World Ultra-Ultra-Marathon, this foursome is more than familiar with the funnel cake-fuelled highs and expired sunscreen-induced lows of the NFVL. For those of us that are baseball fans, it’s our favorite time of the year: Spring Training has begun, which means baseball season—and warm weather—are right around the corner! Leading up to the season, die-hard fans spend the off-season tracking their favorite players, trades and up-and-coming prospects, purchase their season tickets, and plan trips to see farm teams.
